In 1980, Lepage co-starred in the critically acclaimed drama "Cordelia," followed by a string of TV and film roles, including a lead part in "Gaspard et fil$" (1988), as a 40-year-old librarian who reevaluates his relationship with his ailing, grumpy father after he learns the latter won the lottery. By this time, Lepage had established himself a versatile actor who excelled in both comedic and serious roles in films like "Jesus of Montreal" (1989), "King of the Airways" (1994), and "Joyeux Calvaire" (1996). Aside from acting, he was also an experienced helicopter pilot and founder of "Productions Inc. Tuxedo," which produced many popular soap operas and weekly programs in Canada.
