His follow-up short, Play It Again, premiered at the Austin Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award for Best Short, making it Academy Award–qualifying in 2023. In 2024, his proof-of-concept short Spaceman premiered as an Opening Night Selection at HollyShorts. The film stars Trevor Copp, with voice performances by Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Juno, Spider-Man) and Mena Massoud (Aladdin). Most recently, his horror short Heirlooms premiered at Fantasia, winning the Audience Choice Award before going on to claim the Jury Award for Horror at HollyShorts. It then screened at Sitges, FilmQuest, and Telluride. LEOPARD, his latest short, just had its world premiere at the Austin International Film Festival. Dan currently has three feature films in development, including Searching for Marceau, an Academy Nicholl Fellowship and Shore Scripts finalist that he aims to bring to the screen in 2026.
