Hernando Sinisterra was born on March 25, 1893 in Cali, in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. He was the youngest of fifteen children and his parents were María Josefa Gómez and a General of the Republic. He married his niece Elisa Sinisterra Cruz in 1920. He died on June 2, 1958 in Cali, after suffering from heart problems. In 1922, Hernando Sinisterra played the character of Efraín in the film María by Máximo Calvo Olmedo and Alfredo del Diestro. However, it turned out that the role was initially given to another actor, Hernando Domínguez. However, the latter, having too many demands, was finally discarded in favor of Sinisterra.
