He also made brief appearances in the American Wrestling Association (AWA) and on the independent circuit until his retirement in 1991, with occasional appearances as a "jobber" in WCW. After retiring, Mike George worked in security at The Woodlands racetrack and later at the 7th Street Casino in Kansas City.
