Critic Reviews for Fatal Performance
Eager young actress Tom is thrilled when her new agent gets her a high-paying one day job ($10,000!) to impersonate a businesswoman at a cocktail party as she has to be elsewhere. The woman's husband will be present to guide her. This goes smoothly but the next day a car tries to run her down. She shrugs this off as though it happened every day, but that night her friend from work, while staying overnight, is attacked and stabbed by an intruder. The cops investigating doubt her story, the agent turns out be a phony and the couple who hired her deny ever meeting her. Impatient with the progress and course of the investigation, she uses her acting skills to do her own snooping. Tom is terrific as the wide-eyed girl and helps make this outlandish tale an entertaining watch. The relationship between Bacic and Ullerup as the scheming couple is a lot of fun as it seems always in doubt how far their greed and duplicity will go. As is typical, Canada stands in for NYC.
