Packed with spangly costumes and gleaming smiles, the contestants are delightful, even when displaying their dubious talents. The adults include Haid as the nervy dad of equally edgy Moran, and Stevens , as the mom of lovely Whelchel, willing to go any lengths to help her daughter, even sleeping with nerdy judge Tobin. Locklear is a standout competitor in the supporting cast. Kinky Friedman wrote a tribute theme song thathe sings in a barroom scene.
